School counseling prepares students to work as school counselors in K-12 public and private school systems. It leads to a school counselor endorsement or a school counselor license in Michigan. 被M录取的学生.Ed. in school counseling must have completed coursework in their undergraduate degree in advanced child development, 学校学习, and classroom management or coursework in these areas will be required as part of their planned program.

Minimum Number of Hours in Program
All degree-seeking students in the school counseling master's program are required to take a minimum of 36 credit hours.

The master's degree in school counseling prepares students to work as school counselors in K-12 public and private school systems. It leads to a school counselor endorsement or a school counselor license in Michigan. No endorsement or school counseling license will be approved without completion of the Master of Education in school counseling degree. 学生 are required to complete a minimum of 36 credit hours. 学生 are also required to complete 100 practicum hours and 600 internship hours. The 100 practicum hours are dispersed through five emphasis area courses prior to the internship.

Application deadlines (thesis/project): February 15 for spring/summer, 5月15日秋季, September 15 for winter semester. 学生 seeking the school counseling endorsement or school counseling license must pass the State of Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (Subtest 51). The School Counseling License (SCL) is for counseling in school settings only.
